How to play sight word bingo

  1. Pick a level above β€” the cards use only that level's Dolch words. Print one card per student (2 per page saves paper).
  2. Open the Caller tab. Each word appears big on screen and is read aloud, so it works on a classroom TV or smartboard.
  3. Students cover the word with a counter, crayon X or dry-erase marker.
  4. Five in a row wins. The winner reads their five words back to the class β€” extra reading practice. Check any card with its code and card number.

The Dolch list is a set of 220 high-frequency β€œservice words” that make up a large share of the words in children's books. Many of them can't be sounded out, so children learn them by sight β€” and repeated, playful practice like bingo helps them stick.
